Darren graduated from the University of Maine in December of 1989 and passed the CPA exam in 1991. He has spent the past thirty plus years working almost exclusively in public accounting, primarily focusing on taxation. He prides himself in his ability to work within the tax laws to find unique solutions to minimize his clients’ tax liabilities. Prior to moving to Oregon, he was elected and served one term in the Maine House of Representatives, where he served on the Joint Committee on Labor. His committee duties included oversight of the state employees’ pension fund, and initial action on all bills impacting labor and industry.
Outside of the office, he is the proud Dad of three teenagers. During the fall and winter, you can often find him refereeing high school soccer and basketball games throughout the greater Portland area. He is a history buff, with special affinity for the US Civil War and Constitutional Law. Even after moving to the Pacific Northwest, he has remained a loyal fan of his Boston area sports teams. Above all, his favorite escape is to kick back and play one of his many guitars.
